What is MSBI ???
Business intelligence or BI is nothing but its process of converting data into information. Data and information meaning look like similar but both are different, data is a technical format.
Implementing a data warehouse on any business to give the analysis and decision-making result using some set of tools is called Business Intelligence (BI).
A complete tool kit inside the SQL server to implement data warehouse was introduced by Microsoft. So we called it as Microsoft Business intelligence (MSBI).
Why MSBI?
- MSBI allows data storing and fetching for elegant processing and fast decisions in business
- It consists resource tools provides the solutions for business intelligence
- The most of the companies are searching for expert business intelligent workers and require for SSAS, SSIS and SSRS Professionals is increasing recently
- We can learn complete package as mentioned SQL server and data tools
Hardware requirements for MSBI
- GHz Pentium – III compatible (or) faster processor (2GHZ or fast recommended)
- 512 MB of RAM or more than 2 GB
- 1 GB free hard disk space for SQL Server installation files and samples
Software requirements for MSBI
A Compatible OS (operating system.)
- Click “Setup” –> Select the first option when the window opened, i.e.,features added or New SQL, New SQL Server stand-alone installation
- Click on the –> Components required
- Instance Configuration.
- Server configuration
Identify the same account, password for every below services (or) different user id, password for each service.
MSBI Modules:
Below three important projects help to complete the business intelligence task.
- SSIS: SQL Server Integration Services
- SSAS: SQL Server Analysis Services
- SSRS: SQL Server Reporting Services
SSIS:
It helps to perform the wide range of data migration tasks and collect data from various data sources and store them into a central location.
It performs three important things. Extraction, Transformation, and Loading.
Extraction (E): Collection of data from different sources.
Transformation (T): A different form of data obtained from different sources and it converted according to business need.
Loading (L): Data warehouse contains the loaded data.
Features of SSIS
1.Studio environments
2.Packages
3.Expressions.
4.Event handler
Uses Of SSIS
- Combining data from heterogeneous data stores
- Populating data warehouses and data marts
- Cleaning and standardizing data
- Building BI into data transformation process
- Automating administrative functions and data loading
SSRS:
It helps to create the report using the SSRS.
Architecture of SSRS:
SSRS is a reporting platform it includes processing components .SSRS has two basics components there are
Processors: This component is used to add a new functionality and it ensures the integrity of SSRS.
Extensions: This component is raised by processors and specify the processing functionality.
The important components of SSRS architecture are
- Report Builder
- Report Designer
- Report Manager
- Report Server
- Report server database
SSAS:
It is a Microsoft Business intelligence tool to creating Online analytical processing and data mining functionality. We can create an OLAP (online analytical processing) cube using SQl server analysis system.
Key Features of SSAS:
- Ease of use with many wizards and designers
- Data model creation and management is flexible
- OLAP handling from scalable architecture
- Customize application from extensive support
Why do we use SSAS:
- Speed
- Shared metadata
- Security
- Multidimensional analysis
- Avoid resource contention with the source system
- Consolidate from multiple sources
Prerequisites for MSBI :
Anybody who is interested in learning MSBI canlearn and get trained in MSBI certification. Its not mandatory to have a basic understanding of Database like SQL Server and Data Warehouse, but if hove knowledge it help you to learn more easily .
Carrier opportunities in Business Intelligence.
1.BI is only growing area in IT :For the period of hardship, similar to a recession, Top companies turn to BI to support their survival
- BI needs less experience:If you have minimum knowledge of BI also such a huge impact and it goes a long way.
